E-COIL VESSELS

E-COIL is a very versatile system of heat exchangers manufactured in a wide variety of forms and metals to heat, cool and maintain the temperature of contained fluds. Most common forms are:

Immersion E-COILS

IMMERSION E-COILS - Regular pass/Pass area = 0.55 sq. in

IMMERSION E-COILS - Wide pass/Pass area = 1.68 sq. in.

Usually manufactured of two embossed sheets of 16-guage through 10 guage metal fusion or "seam" welded together in typcial forms show below:

Regular pass can handle pressures up to 300 PSI. Wide pass is genreally used for pressures under 125 PSI in situations where a large cross-section is required for circulating fluids with high solids content or low pressure drop requirements.

Parallel

Serpentine

Each E-COIL has a header system stamped in to form parallel or serpentine flow arrangement.

Clamp-On E-Coils

Single Embossed: Formed from a single embossed sheet, seam welded to a flat sheet, then bolted, banded or welded to a vessel to maintain a given temperature

E-COIL Vessel Jackets

Using a slightly different technique, E-COIL embossings can be MIG "button" welded directly to the wall of a vessel, giving 5 to 7 times more heat transfer than the clamp -on E-COIL.

Pass area = 0.275 sq. in.
Vessel wall should be 3/16" thick or heavier to use the button welding.

E-COIL BANKS

In this configuration multiple E-COILS are headered together in a bank to place a large amount of heat transfer surface in a very compact area.

Banks are also widely used in heating large tanks as this form of E-COIL promotes convective circulation, so that in many cases mechanical mixing is not required.

E-COIL Baffles

In agitated vessles there is often a rquirement of additioanl heat transfer area inside a vessel. E-COIL can serve a dual function as a baffle and provide the needed heat transfer surface.

E-COIL Bayonett Heaters

Another versatile method of using E-COIL in banked form is to attach it to a flange cover for easy insertion into a tank.
